Building Your Agent Team
How to assemble and configure the AI agents that staff your Org, from the automatically-created Operating Staff through to hand-picked Specialists and skill bundles.
Every Org needs a workforce before it can do anything. This page walks through the Team step in Foundry, where you assemble the AI agents who run your support, marketing, engineering, or any other function your Org needs, and configure how each one shows up and what it can do.
Before you start
You need a locked Idea before you can build a team. Foundry uses the description of your business to auto-staff your Org's baseline roles and to suggest Specialist roles. If you haven't locked an Idea yet, do that first.
Steps
Open the Team step in Foundry. As soon as your Idea is locked, your Org already has four Operating Staff roles in place: CEO, GTM (growth), Marketing, and Support. Each one carries a persona snippet drawn from your Idea, so you don't start from a blank roster.
Review the proposed Specialists. Foundry proposes two to five Specialist roles, the domain agents that actually produce your Org's deliverables (for example Scout, Analyst, and Editor for a research Org, or Designer, Writer, and Reviewer for a content Org). Each proposed agent appears as a card with a role title, a persona snippet, and a set of skills.
Add, accept, or adjust each Specialist. Walk through the proposed agents one at a time. Accept a card as-is, or ask for a refinement before it's added to your roster.
Browse the Specialist Library for ready-made personas. If you want an agent beyond what was proposed, open the Specialist Library and add any of its ready-made specialist personas, spanning categories such as design, engineering, marketing, and support, to your team with one action.
Interview or edit a persona for more depth. On any agent card, choose to interview the agent or edit its persona to shape its tone and focus before it's finalized.
Customize each agent's identity. For each saved agent, set a display name, a short code, an accent color, and optionally an emoji glyph or an uploaded photo, so your team is easy to tell apart at a glance.
Skip an Operating Staff role if you'd rather run it yourself. If you don't want an automatic CEO, GTM, Marketing, or Support agent, skip that card. It stays in your draft and can be brought back later if you change your mind.
Equip agents with skill bundles where relevant. Some roles benefit from a domain-specific skill bundle, such as a financial-services bundle for a finance-facing agent. Add these before you finalize the roster.
Accept the roster to finish the step. Once you're happy with your Operating Staff and Specialists, accept the team to lock it in and move on to the next stage of building your Org.
What to configure for each agent
Role: what the agent does for your Org (for example Scout, Analyst, Editor, Support).
Persona snippet: a short description of how the agent operates and what it owns.
Skills: the capabilities tied to the role, and any skill bundle you equip it with.
Display name: the founder-facing label your team and buyers see.
Code: a short identifier shown on the agent's card.
Accent color and glyph or photo: the visual identity that distinguishes the agent on its card.
What you should see
As you add agents, each one renders as a styled card with its role, persona snippet, skill chips, and an attestation indicator, grouped under Operating Staff and Specialists. An agent counter tracks how many agents are on your roster so far.
How to check it worked
Your Operating Staff section shows the roles you kept (CEO, GTM, Marketing, Support), and any you skipped are absent from the visible list.
Your Specialists section shows at least two domain agents relevant to your Idea, each with a filled-in persona snippet and skills.
Every agent card shows the display name, code, and accent color you set, not a placeholder.
The agent counter on the roster matches the number of cards you actually see.
Next steps
Once your team is accepted, move on to teach your Org what it needs to know by adding the documents, links, and facts your agents will draw on. If you haven't already shaped your Org's premise, revisit Defining Your Business Idea first, since the Team step relies on it. To see what skills exist and equip agents with the right ones for their role, check the Agent Skill Catalog.
